These days, it’s important to minimise the carbon dioxide generated by your property development projects. With Duracryl climate-positive flooring, this is possible.
Duracryl is a special range of floor finishes made of natural components with lower carbon emissions. It is one the first ‘climate-positive’ flooring systems of its kind in the world and is guaranteed to emit less carbon dioxide than traditional concrete or aggregate floors. With these, you can contribute to the global effort of lowering carbon emissions and safeguarding positive climate effects for future generations. Build with Duracryl floors today and you’ll meet the stricter building standards of tomorrow.
At Art of Concrete, we’re proud to be the first to offer this technology to Australia. We specialise in creating terrazzo-style finishes with the Duracryl formula.
Groundbreaking Flooring Technology
All Duracryl floors are formulated from renewable building materials with low embodied carbon (LEC). These building materials emit low amounts of greenhouse gases throughout their life cycle, from extraction and processing to preparation and floor installation.
As a result, Duracryl floors release less than 5 kg of carbon dioxide (CO2) per square metre. This is significantly lower than traditional floor finishes, including concrete floors using ‘Portland cement’ formulas.
The most striking visual feature of Duracryl floors is its seamless look. This is because each floor formula is applied in liquid or semi-liquid form. That makes the installation of a Duracryl floor extremely flexible. Your chosen finish will readily adhere to any prepared surfaces. You won’t need to deal with adhesives, additional floor seams, joints, or wasted floor material.
This application flexibility also allows you clean removals for future renovations. At the same time, Duracryl floors will last many years. This makes it the best ‘green’ flooring solution for high-traffic areas such as offices, hospitals, schools, malls and public buildings.
Main Features of Duracryl Climate-Positive Flooring
- Low carbon-emitting flooring formulas
- Environmentally friendly
- Unmatched seamless finish
- Liquid form installation; easily applied across various substrates
- Fast curing – floors are walkable in 24 hours and completely harden or have fully-developed properties after 7 days
- Thin but tough surfaces ranging from 2.0-2.5 mm (for linoleum, rubber or other cast floors) to 8-18 mm (for terrazzo)
- Highly customisable, with a fashionable array of colours, finishes or aggregate blends
- High durability and wear resistance; applicable to high-traffic industrial or commercial areas

Benefits of Duracryl Floors
- Easy installation and quick turnaround times. The Duracryl formulas make the process of installing your chosen floors fast and efficient, With our experienced floor specialists taking care of the application and curing, you can be sure that your project stays on schedule.
- Lower property maintenance costs. Because of their high durability and easily cleaned surfaces, Duracryl floors cost less to maintain. These only require regular sweeping or wet mopping with gentle neutral-pH cleaning agents.
- Better health for your clients and community. Lower CO2 emissions mean better daily air quality in and around the installed floors, leading to better physical and mental well-being for everyone using the spaces. Duracryl floors are also non-allergenic and resistant to dangerous mould growth.
- Better heating or cooling. Floor surfaces made of low-LEC materials tend to absorb ambient temperatures better. Whether they’re heated through natural sun exposure or diffusing the effect of cool air, these floors can augment any active or passive temperature control system in their area.
- Environmental responsibilities fulfilled. When you combine low-LEC Duracryl floors with other efforts to lower your carbon footprint, you significantly lessen your construction project’s long-term impact on the local climate (especially in large urban areas). Moreover, should you remove any Duracryl floor or reach its end-of-life, its components are typically 95% recyclable.
- Future-proofed properties. All Duracryl floors were designed to meet the United Nations Paris Agreement’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45% in 2030. These floor finishes are easy to remove, repair or redo. This makes future renovations faster and overall property management more cost-effective.
